People's infuriation

Three nights ago a friend called me at almost midnight to join him for supper at Pelita Restaurant at SS15 Subang Jaya.

This time he wanted me to meet him there, instead of fetching me at my house nearby first, which he normally did.

I waited for about 10 minutes before he arrived and only then I realized why he didn’t fetch me before going to the restaurant: because he now rides on motorcycle, Honda 125cc.

“Bro, I can’t afford to drive my car to see you anymore. I don’t have extra helmet to fetch you lah! I shall drive my car only on Sundays,!” he said.

He said that he is contemplating on buying 1 bike for his wife who works in the vicinity of Subang Airport, as life is so pressing and inhospitable.

However he has a bit of apprehension when he thinks of his wife’s safety riding on the motorway, and does not want to be blamed if anything happens to his wife.

He said he really wish to get his wife to commute by the public transport but that choice is even worst as there is no regular and reliable public transport facilities around his residence in Klang.

“It’s so tiring to live and so hard to die as well,” he said.

“Why do you say too hard to die, Razak?” I asked him.

“It’s so sickening living in this environment. Days ago I saw the person who now represents my constituency in Pahang smoking cigars which costs more than RM200 a stick. I know his history…he was so poor...Small kampong house. And became so rich after joining politics,” He brooded incessantly.

“Bro, let me know why you called me for supper at this time of the night?” I asked him.

“Nothing…nothing! I just wanted to see you to say anything I like! I wanted to talk to you. I am so fed up with the situation. I want to be with you for a while” he said.

“I think get these leaders out of power!” he said softly.

“Which leaders?” I asked him.

“Everybody! Supreme council! The whole bunch, they are parasites…pests and…don’t know what! I am so nervous and edgy with life…..so expensive….shit!” he said anxiously.

This bit of conversation reflects the real current feeling of people of lower middle class population and there is no way we can ignore this.

Razak is a perfect sample of the unhappy lots and this feeling is too contagious for us not to take notice.

The moment I heard him saying such statements I told myself that my struggle should not stop anywhere until there are drastic changes to the leadership of the country.

It made me much stronger and eager to see colossal changes in the party and the government and it should be done in the most democratic, transparent and civil mode.

Deep in my heart, I am certain the time for UMNO to burst is looming and a slight misadventure will call for definite anarchy in the party.

One has to be brave enough to express this opinion since it is through and through crude facts without any tiny elements of fallacy.

I truthfully wish to see that the party should not be led by anyone who was instrumental to the losses faced by UMNO and BN in the last General Elections and they should not be voted in at the coming Party Elections in December.

There are now millions of people like Razak and the two thousand odd delegates can make the party go either way: new height of strength or facing perpetual disaster.

If we are too eager to witness the demise of UMNO, by all means don’t hesitate to support and vote for the candidates from the current lineup like Najib and the rest or just maintain the current President.

If we are anxious to see UMNO undergoing new lease of long life, be courageous enough to vote for the person who is from outside the current line-up, and he is definitely none other than Tengku Razaleigh.

After all it does not cost one’s life to go for a change once and for all.

That would make millions of people like Razak feel exuberant and live in high spirit as they used to.
