“Component parties must put their houses in order”. That was what I read as one of the headlines in The New Straits Times today. It was Najib's statement of advice to all component parties.
I am very sure he is referring to the meeting of Central Working Committee (CWC) of MCA schedule to be held at 1 pm today to decide who is going to lead the 60-year-old party after the Extraordinary Assembly on last Saturday.
MCA is the 2nd biggest component of Barisan Nasional (BN) and the serious divide in the party makes Najib’s mind started to work round the clock. Najib wants to see who the leader is now.
Ong Tee Kiat failed to circumvent the vote of no-confidence against him and could not barricade the move to stop Chua Soi Lek to be back in the party. Soi Lek failed to reinstate his position as Deputy President and has to be satisfied by just be an ordinary member.
Now both are out of the leadership line up and CWC meeting which is due at 1 pm will decide who will be given the mandate to be at the helm.
The Vice Presidents Liow Tiong Lai and Kong Cho Ha is rumored to take the Presidency and Deputy President respectively and would be endorsed by the CWC in this important meeting.
The question is; what would be the consequential effect when lately Ong Tee Kiat has many calls from various MCA divisions to stay on and Soi Lek’s faction is working hard to get their mentor to be back in prominence.
Even if the CWC is forced to decide on unanimous decision to put up Liow and Kong to lead, what would be the grassroot reaction as the grassroot was brought to get involved in the grave dispute between Ong and Chua.
Would that decision stands well and lasting enough while waiting for the new election for the party?
One must remeber that to oust Ong from the Presidency he must be voted out by two third majority in the Extraordinary meeting as provided by MCA constitution, while he only lost by only 14 votes in the EGM last Saturday.
The CWC meeting today would be a real tough on to mitigate the problems satisfactorily.
It quite early to answer but just let us wait until the meeting of CWC is over. Some friends from MCA told me that it is going to be a long meeting.
We may be able to get the feel of the outcome in just hours after the meeting. I am guessing a wild one; it is going to be another long haul of tribulations looming in this party.
Najib has reasons to be worried but I think he himself has to find a formula how to get UMNO which is equally in bad profile, be on track again.
Let us not talk about UMNO for the time being. Let see what happen in MCA and MIC and get our views transgress across borders of East Malaysian States.
We are hearing a lot of uneasy news from there too.
See you after the MCA CWC meeting are over…may be in the late afternoon
While waiting for the outcome of that meeting let us see and listen to the rhetoric in UMNO General Assembly which TV1 occasionally screens from PWTC.
I am very sure that we would enjoy witnessing the clappings and the jokes from the delegates brought in by the party to PWTC. It is more enjoyable than going to the circus…bet you.

BN leaders - Overly resting its laurel on Bagan Pinang's result
Everyone sees that UMNO and BN are overly resting its laurel on the win in Bagan Pinang by-election and it is again going for another prey of deceit of the voters.
They are taking Bagan Pinang result as the key pointer that BN is on the way to stardom and prominence again.
Najib says that it is the indication that the multi racial facet of Bagan Pinang voters is accepting the 1Malaysia concept he propelled through all media.
None of the big leaders accept that the win in this resort town was due to Isa personally. It has nothing to do with the acceptance of 1Malaysia or any other national issue.
Besides his strong personal presence felt by the local Teluk Kemang constituents it was the pulse of UMNO and ordinary public of Negri Sembilan (NS) as a whole.
UMNO in NS is at the weakest under Mohammad Hasan and almost everyone in NS has the apprehension of accepting Mohammad as a viable leader to defend UMNO from the ever growing influence of the opposition parties.
Mohammad is seen to be in love only with his family members and the lame duck political cronies in the State whose function is just to amuse and nodding their heads to this weak leader.
Majority of NS voters and public want to see Mohammad to go in retirement but there is no single alternative to him to lead the state as Mohammad had chosen almost all among the lame ducks to represent BN especially from UMNO in the last GE.
For this reason we saw everybody; leaders and ordinary members of UMNO in the State flocked tirelessly in Bagan Pinang to see that Isa be made a member of the State Assembly.
They came to Bagan Pinang hoping that Isa could be the flanking alternative to Mohammad to take charge of the party or even the government if he sits in the Assembly.
In short, it is sufficient to say that the issue that made Isa win with thumping majority are all local in nature and has nothing to do much with other National issues.
TDM’s apprehension of his candidacy and his refusal to campaign in Bagan Pinang as a show of protest did not carry a slightest weight and voters there just did not pay attention to his comments and opinion.
UMNO in NS is more focused in finding some one who is able enough to bind the fractious UMNO in NS under Mohammad Hasan. Mohammad has not been able to grip the idiosyncrasies of UMNO politics of NS as he is perceived to be a proud personality.
He succumbs to his inward feelings that he is the best leader NS has ever produced right from the day one he ascended the State leadership.
He has the habit of calling divisional leaders as stupid and all other superlatives available in his vocabulary. To him everyone in the State is stupid and any one among them admits such label on him would be his political crony.
BUT no one can blame the federal leaders for resting their laurels on Isa’s victory as they are in desperate need to show the world that they are not rejected after all.
Let them claim and let them have a bit of pleasurable feeling after long wait for a win. Everyone understands that UMNO needs urgently the psychological therapy for the moment.
BUT UMNO leaders seem to forget that they are just defending their own fort. Pakatan Rakyat so far has never lost any seat that they won in the last GE.
We have never gain even one either.

MCA, MIC & Sarawak : Political Adversity is Looming
MCA Emergency General Meeting (EGM) on the 10th Oct has made landmark decision. They got their disputing leaders out of job and the party is going to have their new election for new leadership.
They wanted Chua Soi Lek (CSL), their sacked deputy leader back in the party and sent in strong message to Ong Tee Kiat (OTK) and CSL to go and quarrel outside the party’s leadership without jeopardizing the chance of the party regaining the confidence of the Chinese and their members in particular.
This is a very significant development as this is the reflection of the seriousness of the party members about the fate and future of MCA in facing their future consequence to their community.
The delegates were telling not only their party leaders to behave but it also teaches everybody in the leadership of other component parties to behave is everyone is serious about seeing BN to get back the support of the people after the dismal performance in the last General Elections (GE).
With this decisive result of the EGM it is clear that the quarrel between the group of OTK and CSL was settled by the 3rd party in MCA which may decide to bring the party into a new milestone in their struggle.
This 3rd party in MCA is truly the serious group and there is indication that they are the ones which may take another decisive move to rally the support of the Chinese s a whole.
For this 3rd group getting the attentions of the Chinese and subsequently to secure their support is their main struggle as the Chinese are more incline to support DAP the party which has just taste a bit of power in the State of Penang and having formidable representation in Parliament.
MCA if controlled by this group may opt to detach the party from BN if that is necessary to rally the support of the Chinese as the Chinese are serious about their fate and future.
It is believed that quite a large portion of party members are buying the option of having MCA out of BN as many of their leaders were blaming UMNO for the poor showing in the last GE.
MCA and Gerakan were having problems with the grassroots Chinese due to the unrelenting problems in UMNO and their party have to share the ugly destiny together with the Malay party which is the leader for the BN coalition.
MIC too is having discriminating and an acute problem as the Indians are too fractures with too many parties representing that small community.
It all started when Samy Vellu took MIC as his personal property and wanted to lead the party with his whim and fancies and any voice of dissimilarity would be unceremoniously sidelined.
This has been going on for a very long time until the members were disillusioned and went astray.
Samy Vellu misconduct as the leader for the Indian party had started in 1990 when he went head on with the late TS Pandithan, the party Vice-President then and subsequently Pandithan had to form a new party for the MIC rejected members, called Indian Progressive Front (IPF).
While going head on with Pandithan Samy was also at odd with his deputy then Dato’ S Subramaniam and other party’s senior leaders like Patmanathan, G Govinderaj and many more which time and space does not permit me to write in just one write-up.
The recent move to circumvent Muthu Palaniapan to contest for the Presidency was met with cold blooded political act by disqualifying him from the race.
Samy’s robust move to ensure his love boy Palanivel to win slimly against Dato S.Subramaniam for the Deputy President post was detested not only by the MIC members but by all politically perverted mind Malaysian.
The birth of Makkal Sakhti party is the second offshoot of MIC after IPF is the outcome of the divisive Indians under the rule of MIC and Samy Vellu.
DS Najib went in the open for support of this new party and no one can avoid perceiving it as the move to replace MIC as the representative of the Indian in BN.
Palanivel reacted the move by saying that he will stay put with MIC even if he has to stand alone in it. I guess he has nothing to say as the shift of UMNO leaders support from MIC to the alternative Indian party Makkal Sakhti is evidently real.
Samy Vellu is now on leave may be to soul search about himself and by now he should realize that he is not as able as Dr Mahathir as a leader for UMNO who could take the party as his personal property and rule it following through the contour of his personal whim and fancies.
Across the South China Sea we are now feeling the pulse of another gigantic problem resulting from overstaying in power in Sarawak.
The State election is just round the corner and many quarters feel that BN is going to face multiple problems that may be risky for the ruling BN.
The leadership vacuum in Sarawak is at its pinnacle as all the potential successors are all in retirement and in political oblivion. The top leadership is still hanging around and still unable to find an exit door of power.
The successor is too unclear and succession problem is of significant issue. As it is now TS Taib’s health is not well enough to warrant him to continue taking charge of the State.
Sarawak is in great risk and compounded by MCA and MIC adversity it would be going to invite National Political upheaval.
This issue is of interesting and significant that could create political imbalances and may change total political surroundings.
Do accept a fact that a win in Bagan Pinang is not the work of UMNO but the personal support of TS Isa by his mates in his hometown.
As space and time do not permit me to write with elaboration, I beg to terminate at this point.
See you soon.

Bagan Pinang : Campaign or Camping?
I have been regularly doing day trips to Port Dickson since the past 2 weeks and I saw the building up of crowds in this resort town with my naked eyes.
Conclusively my question is; are these crowds which constitute of UMNO campaigners from all the states really doing their job? Do they really go to the voters and solicit support for the votes BN really need?
I, like many locals there have not been comfortable watching these tourists loitering around without purpose in the town and make the locals feel disturbed of their daily lives with traffic congestions along more than 10 miles of the coastal road.
The actual voters whom I met claimed that they have not been visited by BN campaigners.
“This is an eye sore for us here and I am patiently waiting for these people to leave. These people disturb my daily activities by the ridiculously heavy traffic congestions. It costs me more than an hour to fetch my children from my in-laws house after work. This is preposterous man!!” one of them said crossly.
“These people never change…so typical of UMNO members.” said another. “Dio oghang buek mato kito sakit tetapi mintak kito undi dio orang. Bolum tau laiie den nak undi atau tidak,” he continues.
The other person whom I used to meet long ago said, “Kau tengoklah waktu magrib bro, they never respect the magrib time and the prayer time. Masjid sodang azan, dio oghang mundar mandir topi jalan. Kalau tak nak sombayang duduklah dalam khemah. This is the kind of UMNO campaigners we have. Monyomaklah dio oghang ni bro.”
“These people from Wilayah Persekutuan come here in uniform! Come on bro, we are enough watching people with uniform in PD (referring to thousands of military personel in PD). They behave like gestapolah!”
This short conversation tells a lot. I have no choice but to agree to their views. UMNO activists come to PD just to loiter around without purpose and they are purely susisidised tourists.
The same happened in Kuala Terengganu Parliamentary by-election early this year and the culture repeats in Bagan Pinang.
I have been writing my view in this blog that UMNO by itself is not winning in Bagan Pinang but it is Isa who is in actuality going to be the ultimate victor.
PAS on the side is working hard for this by-election and its participation in the election should not be looked upon lightly.
They are really on the ground and we can evidently see that their workers are not seen hanging around like those UMNO fellas. They are going around house to house and support for the party is growing.
If the voting date is extended for another week a win for PAS is not an impossible occurrence.
I can see that the non-Malay voters are crucial as we are not sure whether they are going to choose the National Issue or the local concerns.
The Indians are fed with Kugan issue but Isa seems to be well accepted by the Indians as this former MB has been personally liked by the Indians for past decades while he was the Menteri Besar.
In conclusion, while Isa is on the lead I hope the BN workers would change their style and culture of approaching the voters as the PR workers are seen to be more adaptive to the local do’s and don’ts.
The voting is just tomorrow and within a day things and situation can change. We must admit that UMNO is always contracted to the habit of failing to manage successes.
That is all for the day.
